Four Teens Charged And Released After Pursuit

Patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police have charged four teens following a vehicle theft investigation.

Officials said on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at 11:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Coleman Methodist Church in Dunleith for a vehicle theft report.

It was reported that multiple suspects stole a turquoise Ford Flex. Officers located the vehicle an hour later leaving the area of the Christiana Mall. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop near 141 and Commons Boulevard when five suspects exited the vehicle and began to run. Four of the five suspects were taken into custody after multiple foot pursuits and with the assistance of the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit.

The four suspects were identified as a 14-year-old male from Wilmington and three 16-year-old males from New Castle.

All four were charged with one felony count of receiving stolen property, one felony count of conspiracy in the second degree, and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest. They were arraigned by New Castle County Family Court and released.
