Update: Subject Located Safe After Delaware River Search

Just after 4:00 Friday afternoon rescue boats along with Delaware State Police Aviation and the US Coast Guard were dispatched to the Delaware River for reports of a watercraft in distress in the area of Collins Beach.

Responding crews were told that 911 had received a call reporting that a duck hunter lost their engine and was stuck on a sandbar.

Due to some sort of mix up 911 does not have the caller’s number and is not able to call them back. Several boats from Delaware, New Jersey, and the Coast Guard along with the two helicopters are currently searching on both sides of the river.

At around 5:30 the hunter got in touch with officials and reported that he was safe and was able to return to shore. Command has placed the incident under control.
