Officials: Gun Found In Student’s Backpack At Cape Henlopen HS

Cape Henlopen High School student found with a gun on campus according to school officials.

School administrators and a School Resource Officer were notified about a student allegedly in possession of a firearm within the school premises.

The Assistant Superintendent of the Cape Henlopen School District, Jenny Nauman, confirmed that a constable, together with the School Resource Officer, conducted a search and located a gun in the student’s backpack. The student was immediately removed from the school and the weapon was secured without incident according to Mauman.

In a communication addressed to the families of Cape Henlopen High School, Nauman assured that there was no threat to student or staff safety at any point. The school day was not interrupted, and all activities, including classes and extracurriculars, proceeded on schedule.
