Rehoboth Beach Resident Gets His Million Dollar Lotto Payoff

A Rehoboth Beach resident has secured a $1,000,000 prize from the POWERBALL® lottery. The 45-year-old man, who has chosen to stay anonymous, obtained his winning ticket from Wawa #871 located on Veterans Way in Rehoboth Beach, selecting his numbers through the Quick Pick method. In the drawing that took place on April 6, 2024, he successfully matched five numbers but missed the POWERBALL® number.

Upon realizing he had won, the man was initially skeptical, suspecting a prank. “I couldn’t believe I won. I thought a friend was playing a joke on me!” he commented. He shared his good fortune first with his mother and has plans for the winnings that include paying off his mortgage, purchasing a car for his mother, and enjoying a modest family vacation.

Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery, expressed her excitement over the win: “We extend our sincere congratulations to the winner on his monumental $1 million prize. We are thrilled to celebrate this monumental win and the positive impact it will have on the winner’s life.”

The winning numbers for the draw on April 6 were 22, 27, 44, 52, and 69 with the POWERBALL® number being 9, and a Power Play number of 3X.

The ticket holder claimed his million-dollar prize at the Lottery Headquarters on April 8, 2024.
