Dover Teen Facing Murder Charge In Death Of Man, 52

The Dover Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old male, of Dover, on murder charges, following a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning.

Officials said the investigation began at 10:26 a.m., when Dover Police Department was called for shots fired from within a residence located in the 400 block of River Road. Officers responded and located the victim, a 54-year-old Seaford man, inside of the residence. The man had sustained a gun shot wound to his upper body as a result of the shooting police said.

Officers and emergency medical personnel rendered aid to the victim on scene until he was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus where he was pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notifications.

The investigation showed that the 54-year-old victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal and physicaly altercation inside of the residence according to police. During this altercation, the 17-year-old obtained a firearm and shot the victim added police. The suspect left the residence prior to Police arrival.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., the 17-year-old came to Dover Police Department to turn himself in. He was taken into custody without incident.

The 17-year-old was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $535,000 cash bail on charges of Murder in the First Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.
