Troopers Identify Man Killed In Accident Friday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred last night in Delmar that left one man dead.

Officials said on July 12, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 1996 Subaru Outback was traveling southbound on Providence Church Road, approaching the intersection of Delmar Road. At the same time, a 2017 Nissan Rogue was traveling westbound on Delmar Road, approaching the intersection of Providence Church Road. The Subaru did not stop at the stop sign and entered the westbound lane of Delmar Road. As a result, the left front of the Nissan struck the left front of the Subaru in the westbound lane of Delmar Road.

The driver of the Subaru, 48-year-old King Dona of Salisbury, Maryland man, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, a 40-year-old Laurel woman and three children sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was temporarily closed for approximately 3 hours while investigators examined the scene and the roadway to be cleared.
