Four Seriously Injured In Townsend Crashes Wednesday

The Delaware State Police are investigating two accidents that sent four to the hospital on Wednesday.

The first accident occurred at approximately 2:12 p.m., on DuPont Parkway at Blackbird Forest Road in Townsend. Crews were dispatched for a motor vehicle collision involving an SUV reported overturned.

New Castle County Paramedics, Townsend Fire Company, Delaware State Police Aviation (Trooper 2), and an ambulance from the Odessa Fire Company were were dispatched on this call.

Upon arrival, units discovered a two-vehicle collision with an SUV on its roof and two individuals injured. The driver of the overturned SUV, a 35-year-old male, had self-extricated before emergency responders arrived. He was transported by New Castle County Paramedics on board an Odessa Fire Company Ambulance with internal and extremity injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 27-year-old male, sustained extremity injuries and was transported by New Castle County Paramedics on board a Townsend Fire Company Ambulance. Both patients were taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton and are reported to be in stable condition.

Later that evening, just after 9:30 p.m., another accident occurred on Blackbird Forest Road in Townsend. The crash involved a motorcycle, resulting in injuries to both the adult rider and a juvenile passenger.

The operator of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s, was airlifted to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police helicopter, Trooper 4. The 12-year-old passenger was also transported to Christiana Hospital, this time by LifeNet 61.

The conditions of both patients remain unknown at this time.
