Newark Man Facing Multiple Felony Counts, Released On Unsecured Bond

Detectives from the Mobile Enforcement Team of the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested 65-year-old William Kidd of Newark on multiple felony charges following a drug sales investigation.

Officials said the investigation began in October, focusing on drug sales in the Shelley Farms neighborhood. Detectives established probable cause, leading to the approval of a search warrant for Kidd’s residence on the unit block of Ballard Drive. The warrant was executed on Friday, October 25, 2024, and Kidd was taken into custody without incident. During the search, officers discovered 10.82 grams of crystal methamphetamine and several firearms, including a stolen rifle according to police.

Kidd was transported to New Castle County Police headquarters, where he was charged with three felony counts of possessing a weapon while in possession of a controlled substance, one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (tier 2), and one felony count of receiving a stolen firearm. Kidd was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 02 and released on a $32,000 unsecured bond.
