Firefighters Find Dead Victim During House Fire Wednesday Night

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a residential structure fire that was reported on Wednesday night shortly before 7:30 in the 31000 block of Crepe Myrtle Drive Gull Point Millsboro, Delaware.

Chief Deputy John Galaska said the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found heavy flames coming from a townhouse unit. The house was occupied at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to locate a deceased victim on the interior of the home. The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and cause of death.   

Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal’s responded to the scene as part of the Major Incident Response Team and are conducting an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The fire remains under investigation. There were no other reported injuries. Damage is estimated at $350,000.
