Bullet Narrowly Misses 7-Year-Old Sleeping In Newark Home

A Newark family experienced a harrowing incident late Friday night when a stray bullet shattered the window of their home, narrowly missing a 7-year-old girl who was asleep on the couch.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 10:06 PM in the 900 block of South Old Baltimore Pike near Cooches Bridge. According to the family, a single shot was fired from a vehicle, piercing both panes of a front window and lodging inside the home.

The father of the young girl, who asked not to be identified, described the terrifying moment. “She was just inches away,” he said.

Delaware State Police were called to the scene, with multiple troopers responding to investigate. Officers searched the surrounding area and examined the home for hours. While State Police have not yet issued a formal report or confirmed the incident, photographs obtained by First State Update confirm the response.

The father is asking the public for anyone with information to contact Delaware State Police Trooper Oakes at Troop 2 in Newark.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Delaware State Police or submit an anonymous tip through Delaware Crime Stoppers.
