A recent study has revealed that Delaware is among the states Americans are least interested in relocating to, ranking second overall in the country.
The research, conducted by Cabinet Select, analyzed the average number of monthly Google searches for terms related to moving to the top five most populous cities in each state. Search terms included phrases like “move to Wilmington” and “Dover home prices.” The study identified the states with the lowest total search volumes as the least desirable destinations for potential movers.

Hawaii topped the list as the least desirable state, with just 4,983 average monthly searches related to moving there. The state’s most popular city, Waipahu, received 1,650 monthly searches.
Delaware followed closely behind in second place, with only 7,153 average monthly searches across the U.S. Wilmington, the state’s most sought-after city, had 2,067 searches per month.
Arkansas placed third with 9,076 monthly searches, where Fayetteville stood out as the most desirable city with 8,108 searches. Vermont came in fourth with 10,830 searches, and Connecticut rounded out the top five with 11,525 searches.
The rankings also showed a significant concentration of Northeastern states, including Rhode Island (#6), New Jersey (#7), and Maine (#8), indicating a trend of lower interest in relocation to this region.
On the flip side, Texas ranked as the most desirable state, with an impressive 133,633 monthly Google searches related to moving to its top five cities. Florida (96,968 searches) and California (96,479 searches) followed closely behind.
