On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 4:41 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the unit block of Sunny Bend following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that two residences had been struck by gunfire, one in the unit block of Sunny Bend and one in the unit block of Kayak Ct, but no reports of any individuals struck by gunfire. Witnesses reported seeing a large group of individuals in the area before the shooting, all of whom fled before officers arrived.
A coordinated search was conducted by officers from both the New Castle County Division of Police and the Delaware State Police; however, no suspects or victims were located. It was later discovered that a third residence in the unit block of Sailboat Circle was also struck and no reported injuries.
