Detectives Called In After Woman Shot Near Downtown Wilmington

The Wilmington Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old woman hospitalized Tuesday night in Wilmington.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 9:14 p.m. to the area of West 5th and North Monroe streets for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and no suspect information has been made available.

The investigation remains ongoing.
