What Happened On Lighthouse Road? DSP Investigating Fatal Crash

File

A 56-year-old Frankford man died early Wednesday morning after a motorcycle crash in Selbyville, according to the Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred around 1:20 a.m. on May 20, 2026, as a Harley-Davidson Road King was traveling eastbound on Lighthouse Road near Fenwick Shoals Boulevard.

Investigators said the motorcycle failed to negotiate a slight left curve for reasons still under investigation. The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a concrete-and-metal safety barrier.

The operator, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Lighthouse Road remained closed for about four hours while troopers conducted the initial investigation. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
