Delaware State Police have identified 69-year-old Ronald Rogers of Wilmington as the man who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on Philadelphia Pike.
The crash occurred October 9, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., north of East Holly Oak Road. According to investigators, Rogers was operating an electric wheelchair along the sidewalk when he entered the northbound roadway and was struck by a Jeep Cherokee.
Rogers was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Jeep’s driver, a 51-year-old woman from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, initially stopped at the scene but later drove away. Troopers subsequently located her and the vehicle at a nearby residence.
The driver has not been arrested. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash and determine whether charges are warranted.
