Woman Dies After Being Stuck By Car On Saturday

New Castle A pedestrian was killed when she was struck and killed at around 9:30 on Saturday. The unidentified female was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of South DuPont Highway at Llangollen Boulevard, in a westbound direction.

As the pedestrian, who was in or near a marked crosswalk but was not utilizing the crosswalk signal, entered into the center lane of travel, she was struck by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, which was being operated by Ciaron L.H. Robertson, 18 of Bear, according to police

The Sonata, which was traveling in an southbound direction on US13, had a solid green traffic light and was behind another vehicle that had just swerved around the pedestrian and avoided striking her. The force of the collision threw the pedestrian in an southerly direction into the northbound left turn lane, police said. Ciaron Robertson was able to bring her vehicle to a controlled stop at the scene.

The female victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. She was then transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The victim’s name is being withheld pending identification and notification of his next of kin.

Ciaron Robertson, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was not injured, according to police.
