Police Seeking Christmas Eve Hit-And-Run Suspect

New Castle – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal hit and run crash that occurred last night involving a pedestrian, according to Delaware State Police Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier said that at around 7:55 p.m. Saturday December 24, 2016 as Lisa M. Bolden, 54 of New Castle, was crossing the westbound lanes of Christiana Road (SR273) immediately east of the intersection with East Edinburgh Drive. An unknown type vehicle was traveling westbound on SR273 in an unknown travel lane approaching the intersection with East Edinburgh Drive when the right front area of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, said Fournier. After the collision, the pedestrian was thrown from the car into the middle of the north end of the intersection, while the vehicle did not stop and continued westbound on SR273 to an unknown location.

Lisa Bolden, who was wearing dark-colored clothing and not wearing any reflective material, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fournier said that based upon vehicle debris located at the scene, the vehicle was white in color and should have, at a minimum, damage to the right front corner area. Witness accounts describe the vehicle to be a four door sedan and possibly from a foreign manufacturer.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Master Corporal J. Breen at 302-365-8486. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. SR273 at East Edinburgh Drive was closed for approximately two and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
