Hoffman said that the incident occurred when 33-year-old Brian McCain approached a 30-year-old female victim in the 100 Block of West Loockerman Street as she was walking to her vehicle following dinner with friends.

McCain demanded that the woman give him her purse, according to Hoffman. Fearful for her safety due to McCain’s aggressiveness, she complied and McCain fled on foot, said Hoffman. A witness observed the incident and chased down the suspect, tackling him to the ground a short distance away.

The witness, a member of the United States Air Force, was not injured and was able to recover the victim’s property. Dover Police arrested McCain a short time later near his home in the 100 Block of West Loockerman Street. McCain was committed to JTVCC on $1,000 Secured Bond on a single charge of Robbery 2nd Degree.
