Police: Man Crashes Into Utility Poll, Flees, Reports Vehicle Stolen

Milford – On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to South Walnut Street in the area of McCoy Street to a report of a vehicle that struck a utility pole, with both the operator and passenger fleeing the scene, according to Milford Police Spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said that as the matter was being investigated Vincent L. Daniels, 54 of Vineland, New Jersey, responded to the Milford Police Department to report the vehicle stolen.

Further investigation later determined Daniels was reportedly the operator of the vehicle and fled the scene prior to police arrival, according to Masten.

A warrant was later obtained for Daniels and he has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Injury, Driving Without a Valid License, Failure To Have Insurance Identification, Careless Driving, and Failure to Report a Collision, according to Masten.

Daniels was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $702.00 unsecured. Mr. Daniels is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on March 20th for an arraignment.
