Newark Man Awakes To Intruders Early This Morning

Newark – Newark Police is investigating an occupied residential burglary that occurred on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 5:44 a.m. in the unit block of Munro Road, according to Newark Police Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

A resident, who is 55-years-old, reported that he was asleep in a second floor bedroom when he heard noises coming from the first floor. The homeowner reported that he exited his bedroom and noticed some property damage on the first floor. He then returned to his bedroom and called police.

Arriving officers located an open rear sliding door at the residence, however, they found the suspect(s) had already fled the residence. A New Castle County Police K-9 Officer conducted a track for the suspect(s) with his K-9 partner without success. It was later determined that nothing had been stolen from the residence.

Residents are reminded to immediately report any suspicious persons or activity to Newark Police and to ensure that their windows and doors to their residences are locked.

Anyone with additional information on this incident or any residents on Monro Drive with exterior surveillance camera footage are encouraged to contact Detective William Anderson, 302-366-7100 x 3469, or [email protected]
