Pennsylvania Man Shot In Face Crashes SUV Near I-95

Wilmington – On Friday April 07, 2017 at approximately 10:24 p.m., Wilmington Police Officer’s responded to Martin Luther King Boulevard and Justison Street in regard to a minor vehicle accident.

Further information was received that the operator of the striking vehicle may have been shot. Arriving officer’s located a 29-year-old Pennsylvania man inside of black in color SUV bearing Pennsylvania registration, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his facial area.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room. The victim is described as in critical but stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the victims vehicle had sustained significant damage, possibly striking some sort of barrier at an unknown location. No ballistic evidence was recovered at the accident scene and no calls for shots fired, or Shot Spotter Notifications were received in reference to the shooting.

The Criminal Investigations Division is working with surrounding Delaware and a Pennsylvania Police Agencies attempting to determine a location of this shooting incident.
