Altercation Leads To Man Being Shot, County Police Investigating

Wilmington – New Castle County Police (NCCPD) are currently investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old man injured in the community of Mill Creek Village Apartments, according to NCCPD Spokesman JP Piser.

Piser said yesterday, June 26, 2017 at about 11:05 p.m., County Police were dispatched to the unit block of Scarborough Park Drive for a person shot. Upon arrival, police located the 20-year-old male victim inside an apartment suffering apparent gunshot wounds, according to Piser. The victim was provided first aid on scene and transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Police learned that as a separate occupant of the apartment attempted to leave, two suspects forced their way in, said Piser. The victim confronted the two suspects which resulted in a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, one of the suspects fired a handgun, striking the victim, according to Piser. Both suspects fled after taking an undisclosed amount of money, added Piser.

The two suspects are described as black males in their early 20s wearing all dark clothing, one of which was armed with a handgun.
