Happening Now: Four Boaters In Distress In The Delaware, One Is A Child

Delaware City – Rescue crews are currently responding to Delaware City for reports of four injured boaters who may have struck an unlit buoy south of Pea Patch Island.

Trooper 4 (Delaware State Police Aviation) has been alerted and is responding to the scene, It is unknown the severity of the patients injuries.

Reports are that there are four patients being treated, two with head injuries, one is a child.

Patients are currently at a dock in Delaware City being evaluated.

Indications are that some of the boaters were thrown into the water and the child became separated from the other three. Its unclear what the patients injuries are at this time.

Update

Reports from the scene indicate that Trooper 4 was told they would not be utilized for this incident. Two of the patients were transported to Christiana Hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. It’s not clear if the child was one of the patients that was transported.

The vessel that was to reported to have struck the the buoy was able to return to Delaware City under its own power.
