Sunday Crash Leaves One Dead, Another In Jail

Dover – A 23-year-old Dover man has been charged with Vehicular Homicide (1st degree) following the death of 62-year-old Derik Pecorini of Dover, according to Public Information Officer Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said Pecorini was operating a 2002 Honda Accord northbound on McKee Road between the intersections of Scarborough Road and West Denney’s Road. Marcus Thomas was operating a 2006 Nissan Altima southbound in the northbound lane in the same area, according to Hoffman.

Thomas’ vehicle collided head-on with the Honda Accord being driven by Derik Pecorini near Seskinore Court. Pecorini died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. Thomas had minor injuries and was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, said Hoffman.

Thomas was charged with 1st Degree Vehicular Homicide and additional traffic offenses.
