Dover Police Identify Pedestrian Killed On Friday

Dover – The Dover Police Department has identified Ronald Lutrell (59), of Dover,  as the victim in the fatal pedestrian accident on Friday, July 28th, 2017.  The driver of the vehicle that struck Lutrell will not be charged in the incident.

Dover – The Dover Police Department Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident where a pedestrian was struck and killed on Friday night, according to Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said at approximately 8:38 PM, a 59-year-old male, crossed the northbound and southbound lanes of N. DuPont Highway from the East side of the road way from the area of Raceway Liquors (899 N. DuPont Highway).

When the man attempted to cross the southbound lanes, he ran directly in front of a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan in the center lane.  The man was struck by the vehicle, causing fatal injuries, said Hoffman. Officers cleared the scene at approximately 11:30 PM.

Police are withhold the victims name at this time.
