Fire Marshal Updates This Afternoon’s New Castle House Incident

New Castle – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this afternoon’s House fire in New Castle, DE. was accidental.

The Wilmington Manor Fire Company responded to the 100 block of East Roosevelt Avenue in Wilmington Manor shortly after 12:30 pm for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival the Fire Department found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of a single family dwelling.

Deputy Fire Marshal’s were called to the scene and have determined that the fire was accidental and originated in a rear attached porch and spread to the second floor. The cause was determined to be an electrical malfunction in an extension cord.

The fire caused approximately $25,000 damage to the residence. No injuries were reported. The residents will be staying with family.

1:17 PM Wilmington Manor command has declared the scene under control.

1:13 PM Update: House cleared no persons found to be in the home. All visible fire has been extinguished.  Smoke still showing crews still working  scene.

New Castle – Fire crews from across New Castle County have responded to the 100 blk of East Roosevelt Avenue in New Castle for reports of a house on fire.

Arriving crew have found fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home. Crews have made entry into the home and are currently searching the home for victims.
