Man In Critical After Being Shot In Wilmington

Wilmington – On August 28, 2017 at approximately 8:07 pm, a Uniform Services Division officer assigned to “C” Platoon was on foot patrol in the unit Block of E 23rd Street. As the officer was walking in an easterly direction, he heard several gunshots coming from the 100 Block of E. 23rd Street.

The officer, immediately radioed dispatch and with the assistance of additional police units, established a perimeter. The officer’s located a crime scene in the 100 block of E. 23rd Street, as well as a vehicle struck by gunfire in the 200 block of E. 23rd Street, however no victim or suspect was located, according to police.

As officer’s were securing the scene, dispatch was notified that a 24-year-old male shooting victim had arrived via private vehicle to the Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room suffering from a gunshot wound to his left torso area. The victim is described as in critical but stable condition.
