Maryland Apartment Fire Displaces 74, Possible Lightning Strike


Hagerstown, MD – Just after 8:00 pm, last evening, (8/22/17) firefighters from the Hagerstown Fire Department responded to the Woodbridge Apartments, located at 11565 Robinwood Drive, for reports of an apartment fire.

Arriving crews found a three-story 37 unit apartment building with heavy fire. 70 firefighters worked approximately 90 minutes to bring the two alarm blaze under control. Officials from the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office said witnesses described a potential lightening strike prior to the fire. The incident remains under investigation to confirm.

Fire crews worked into the night to confirm accountability of all 74 occupants. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants, according the fire marshal.
