Police Chase Ends In Violent Crash, 1 Suspect Caught, 1 Outstanding

Richardson Park – Just after 10:00 this morning, November 13, 2017, Newport Police attempted to stop a white Pontiac that was headed eastbound on Route 4. The vehicle failed to stop and fled from the police.

Just as Delaware State Police, Wilmington Police and New Castle County Police joined the pursuit the Pontiac slammed in to a Scion xB, shearing off it’s front wheel. The Pontiac then plowed trough a utility poll before coming to rest approximately 100 yards away in a parking lot.

Terrance Ellis, who witnessed the aftermath of the chase said that as the Pontiac came to rest two men fled the scene on foot with police on their heels. Police were able to catch up to one suspect while the other got away. The driver of the Scion was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
