14-Year-Old Struck By Passing Car In Pike Creek-Area

Pike Creak-Area – On Saturday, at approximately 7:00 pm, New Castle County Paramedics and personnel from the Mill Creek Fire Company were dispatched to the area of Mill Creek Road and Mill Creek
Greenway Trail for a pedestrian struck, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal David McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said arriving County Paramedics found a 14-year-old male in the care of Emergency Medical Technicians from the Mill Creek Fire Company. The patient was attempting to free the car that he was riding in which had slid in the snow and become stuck, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling on the road.

Crews were initially dispatched to the area of McKennans Church Road and Duncan Road but quickly determined that the incident occurred near the golf driving range on Mill Creek Road.

The patient was treated on scene for an injury to the head and shoulder. He was transported to the Emergency Department at A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children on board an ambulance from the Mill
Creek Fire Company with a New Castle County Paramedic accompanying. The patient was stable at the time of transport.
