Five Colorado Deputies, Two Civilians Shot, Suspect Barricaded

Littleton, Colorado – At approximately 5:13  (EST 7:13 am) this morning, Sunday December 31, 2017, several Colorado Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3400 block of County Line Road in Littleton, Colorado, for a domestic dispute.

Responding deputies investigating inside an apartment were shot when a suspect in the apartment opened fire on them.  It’s believed that five deputies were shot during the exchange. One deputy is dead, one was shot in the chest, a third was shot in the arm according to reports from the scene. It’s unclear what injuries the other two deputies suffered at this time

As officers from around the county responded to the area, the suspect continued to fire at officers, with what police were calling an automatic weapon, according to radio traffic. Officers on scene reported that the suspect was shooting through the walls trying to hit them.

Other news outlets are reporting that the suspect is down. We have not confirmed that he is dead.

A man in a neighboring apartment was shot through the wall. Deputies grabbed a ladder and rescued the wounded man an his wife while SWAT members surround the suspects apartment, according to reports.

Radio reports indicate that a second civilian was shot during the incident. It’s unclear how what injuries the second civilian suffered.
