Newark – The Newark Police Department is investigating a shoplifting which occurred at the Pep Boys in College Square Shopping Center on Friday, January 19th at approximately 9:00 p.m., according to Sgt. Gerald J. Bryda.

Bryda said employees described that an unknown white male walked up to the counter with three pairs of brake pads. The employee scanned the items for payment, and when the employee looked away, the suspect grabbed the items off the counter and fled out of the store, according to Bryda.

The suspect is described as a white male with reddish hair, wearing a backwards hat, a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with a Nike symbol on it, and blue jeans. The suspect fled in a dark-colored sedan with possible Maryland tags, which was occupied by two other people. The brake pads are valued at $121.
