Troopers: Man Charged With Breaking Into Garbage Facility, Gas Station

Ellendale- The Delaware State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with two burglaries, according to Public Information Officer Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at approximately 11:04 p.m., a suspect had forced entry into the DSWA (Delaware State Waste Authority) facility located at 13870 S. Old State Road, Ellendale. The suspect remained at the location for a short time prior to fleeing without removing any property, according to Jaffe.

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, at approximately 12:07 a.m., a suspect had forced entry into the Exxon gas station located at 18005 Beach Highway, Ellendale. Once inside the suspect removed eight packs of cigarettes and a lighter prior to fleeing, according to Jaffe.

Working on information from an anonymous tip received via Delaware Crimestoppers, State Police were able to identify the suspect as 48-year-old Carl W. Schuyler of Ellendale. On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, Troopers responded to a residence in the 18000 block of Schuyler Drive, Ellendale in an attempt to apprehend Schuyler who initially resisted and was subsequently taken into custody without further incident, said Jaffe.

Schuyler was transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd, two counts of Criminal Mischief, two counts of Theft, and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,200.00 cash only bond.
