Happening Now: Shooting At High School In Maryland, At Least Two Wounded

Lexington Park, Md – Police are currently clearing Great Mills High School after a shooting occurred this morning, according Maryland State police.

Rescue crews have activated their mass casualty plans. At least two patients have been wounded, according to radio traffic.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is asking parents to stay away from Great Mills High School. They should report to Leonardtown High School. Students will be taken there.

Update: Police have cleared the first floor of the school. No word on the shooter at this time.

Update: ATF Baltimore Tweeted that they are responding to are responding to the scene but it’s unclear why.

Update: Ambulance crews were dispatched at 8:02 am, first ambulance arrived on scene at 8:05 am.

Update: Upon arrival medics asked for a mass casualty unit to respond to the scene.

Update: Radio reports indicate that three people have been shot.

Update: Two patients with serious injuries, one with a leg wound.

Update: 9:56 Students are being evacuated from GMHS and being bused to the reunification center at the Leonardtown HS campus. The building is orderly and the Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation, according to the school district.
