Injury Accident Shuts Down Kirkwood Highway

Elsmere – Just before 1:00 this afternoon a Deputy Delaware State Fire Marshal came across an injury accident on Kirkwood Highway, in the area of the BJ’s Wholesale Club. After accessing the accident he alerted dispatch that medical crews would be needed.

Rescue crews responded to the scene and found two patients in need of medical attention. It’s believed that both patients were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Area Fire Police were dispatched to divert traffic away from the accident. The accident was cleared at 1:17 p.m., roughly 30 minutes after the crash occurred.

Westbound Kirkwood Highway was closed while crews worked to clear the accident.
