Officials: One Dead, Two In Critical After Wilmington House Fire Rages

Update: Two children and a woman were pulled from the home at Concord Avenue and West 23rd Street. Both children were taken to A.I. duPont Hospital and the woman was taken to Christiana Hospital. Officials say one of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital but declined to reveal whether the victim who died was the woman or one of the two children.

Wilmington – Just after 7:15 Wilmington firefighters, along with New Castle County Paramedics responded to Concord Avenue and West 23rd Street for reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival crews reported fire showing from the first floor. The firefighters learned that learned that possibly four patients were in the home. As firefighters began to enter the home they were met with heavy fire..

Reports from the scene indicate that firefighters began a search for the patients as the moved into the home. Firefighters quickly located two children and one adult upstairs. The patients were rushed outside to awaiting paramedics, who rushed the adult to Christiana Hospital and the children to Ai duPont, all in critical condition.

A fourth person made it out of the house as firefighters arrived on scene. It’s unclear if that is the fourth person reported to be in the home.
