Troopers Investigating Attempted Robbery Of 80-Year-Old Man On Concord Pike

Fairfax – Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a Wilmington man that occurred yesterday in the Fairfax Shopping Center parking lot, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on Friday, April 6, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Acme, located at 1901 Concord Pike for a report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with an 80-year-old victim who advised he had just walked out of the Acme and over to his vehicle, when he was approached by a subject asking for a helping hand.

The victim informed the subject that he did not have any money. The suspect then proceeded to grab the victim’s pocket in an attempt to take his wallet. The victim was able to pull away from the suspect, who then took off running without obtaining any personal belongings. The victim was not harmed as a result of this incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 25-35 years of age, 5’07”-5’09” tall, 130-140 pounds, thin build, with brown hair, wearing a long-sleeve dark colored shirt, jeans, and dark colored boots.
