Newark Police On Scene At Newark High School Due To Threat

The Newark Police are currently investigating a violent written threat found inside Newark High School, located at 750 E. Delaware Ave., according to Lt. Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said additional Newark Police Officers are currently present at the school to ensure the safety of students and employees at the school.

The Newark Police Criminal Investigations Division is actively working to investigate the threat, according to Rubin.

Officers will remain at the school throughout the remainder of the day to ensure the safety of everyone at the school.

A message on the schools website read:

Dear Newark High School Parents/Guardians,

School officials were notified at approximately 10:45 AM of a written statement found in the school building that appeared to be threatening.

School administration immediately notified the School Resource Officer and requested additional support from the Newark Police Department.

The threat is being assessed by the Newark Police Department and additional support from the Newark Police will remain at the school until the incident is resolved.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
