Man Charged With Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft

On Thursday, November 1. 2018, at approximately 3:00 am, Wilmington Police responded to the 1100 block of Coleman Street for a report of a burglary. Authorities determined that items were removed from within the residence, along with keys to the victim’s vehicle, according to police.

Officials said the victim’s vehicle was also taken and later recovered in the 700 block of S. Van Buren Street.

Through investigative measures, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Deante Caldwell, 18-years old, of Wilmington, according to police. All items from the burglary were recovered.

Caldwell was arrested and charged with the following Burglary Second Degree, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, and Theft Under $1500 (2 counts)

He was arraigned and was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institute on $7000.00 secured bail.
