Maryland State Police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash Saturday evening in Cecil County.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, troopers from the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack responded on a report of a pedestrian crash on northbound Interstate 95 and Maryland Route 272 near North east. According to a preliminary investigation, a 23-year-old male for unknown reasons was attempting to cross from the southbound to the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 when he was struck by a white Infiniti.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene, according to police. The driver of the Infiniti remained at the scene. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. As a result of the crash, all lanes on northbound Interstate 95 were closed in the area of Route 272. For the latest on road conditions, visit www.md511.org.
