Fire Displaces Four Two Days Before Christmas

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal says that last evening’s fire at the Murray Manor Trailer Park was accidental.

At 7:08 pm the Mill Creek Fire Company, assisted by crews from the Cranston Heights, Minquas, Elsmere, Five Points, and Belvedere Fire Companies responded to the 700 block of Eighth Avenue for reports of a structure fire.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found fire coming from the rear of the structure.

State fire investigators, called to the scene to investigate the fire’s origin and cause, determined that the fire began on the exterior of the house trailer when a bag containing fireplace ash ignited. The flames burned up the exterior and into the roof.

Heavy fire damage, estimated at $10,000, displaced three adults and one child. The American Red Cross was requested to provide emergency assistance to the family.

There were no report injuries.
