New Jersey Man Charged With Arson For House Fire Near Dover Air Force Base

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has arrested a New Jersey man in connection with the December 6, 2018 house trailer fire in Dover, Delaware that was declared arson, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the blaze, reported shortly after 11:00 am, occurred in the unit block of East Pinewood Drive near South State Street. The Dover Fire Department responded to the call and arrived on the scene with an active fire. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $30,000.

State fire investigators called to the scene to conduct the investigation, said that the fire was deliberately started inside the house trailer.

In their initial statement on December 6, 2018 officials said Deputy Fire Marshals had developed significant leads and were pursuing those leads in an effort to make an apprehension.

Today, deputy fire marshals arrested Charles J. Brown, age 31, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey without incident. Brown has been charged with Arson in the Second Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, and Breach of Release.
