18-Year-Old Found Shot Directly Behind St. Francis Hospital, Listed In Critical

On Monday, January 7, 2019, at approximately 11:24 pm, Wilmington Police responded to the 700 block of N. Dupont Street for a shooting.

Upon police arrival, they located an 18-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound.

She was treated on scene and was transported to the hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Just after the shooting, our news desk began receiving reports from area residents. They were telling us that they heard several shots just before police swarmed the area.

This is an on-going investigation.

Breaking Report

Wilmington Police Officers have responded to N Dupont Steet in the Hilltop neighborhood for what is believed to be gunshots near St. Francis Hospital, according to nearby residents.

Neighbors are reporting that they heard 3 to 4 shots and a heavy police presence is now in the area. North DuPont Street, between 8th and 6th, is cordoned off by yellow police tape.
