Wilmington Fire Department Updates Vandever Avenue House Fire

At 8:34 this morning Wilmington Firefighters on the D platoon were alerted to a residential fire at 528 Vandever Avenue. Upon arrival of Squad 4 and Engine 5, crews found smoke from the rear of a three-story middle of the row residence. Crews stretched fire hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire on the second floor. Additional crews searched the residence, finding no one inside.

The fire was contained to the area of origin and is currently being investigated by the Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office. There are no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. The scene was placed under control at 8:55 AM by the Incident Commander, Battalion Chief Dennis Kirlin.

Approximately 24 fire and EMS personnel responded to the fire. The following units responded: Engine 5, Engine 3, Squad 4, Engine 1, Ladder 1, Ladder 2, Battalion-1, Battalion-2, Battalion 12, Deputy-2, FM-11, FM-14, FM-18, St. Francis EMS, New Castle County Medics, Wilmington Licenses & Inspections, and Delmarva Power.
