Rite Aid Near Newport Robbed By Armed Suspect

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area pharmacy that took place Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:03 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 636 S. Maryland Avenue, Wilmington. A male suspect, with a concealed face, and who had had a knife tucked into his waistband, confronted an employee in the manager’s office and demanded money, according to police. The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the business through a rear door. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a male, 6’00”-6”1”, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a cloth concealing his face.
