Two Cats Perish In House Fire Near State Line, Total Loss

Elkton, Md. – Just after 11:00 last evening firefighters from the Chesapeake City Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 100 block of Knights Corner Road for reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews reported that the home was fully engulfed in fire. Approximately 35 firefighters worked for around 30 minutes to bring the 1 Alarm fire under control.

Fire investigators said the home is a complete loss and estimated the damage at $160,000.

It was initially reported that the owner was unaccounted for. Investigators later made contact with him and determined he was in California for a work-related trip.

Two cats perished in the fire.
