Newark Bank Robbery Suspects Extradited From New Jersey

The man Newark Police believe robbed the Wells Fargo Bank on South College Avenue last December has been extradited back to Delaware.

Antwine A. Banks, who had an arrest warrant from a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank on 12/21/18, was extradited from New Jersey and arraigned on the Robbery 1st Degree warrant on February 7, 2019.

Banks extradition was not made public until a police administrative report was recently generated.

He was committed to Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $60,000 cash bond, according to the report.

Update

On January 16, 2019, the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Taskforce took Antwine Banks into custody in Camden, NJ for his role in the December 21, 2018 robbery of the Wells Fargo bank on South College Avenue, according to police.

In addition, Newark Detectives identified Victoria Williams, 30, of Perryville, MD. as the driver of the vehicle in which Banks fled from this incident. Warrants were issued for her arrest. She was also taken into custody at the same time and will face Robbery and related charges.

Both Banks and Williams are being held in New Jersey pending their extradition to Delaware.

The Newark Police Department has released the name of a man who they say robbed the Wells Fargo bank Friday afternoon.

Officials said the suspect in the bank robbery at 622 South College Avenue on December 21, 2018, has been identified as Antwine Banks, 36, of Perryville, Maryland.

After releasing photographs of the suspect to First State Update and other media outlets the Newark Police received multiple tips, according to police. On December 23, 2018, Detectives obtained a warrant charging Banks with Robbery in the First Degree.

He is believed to be traveling in a blue Nissan Altima with the Maryland Plate 7CV6457. Officials said he is known to have contacts in Perryville, Maryland, Bensalem, Pennsylvania, and Camden, New Jersey.

Update

Just after 12:20 this afternoon, December 21, 2018, Newark Police were dispatched to the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 622 South College Avenue, for a report of a robbery.

Officers learned that during the robbery, the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to a female teller implying that he had a weapon, according to Lt. Andrew Rubien. The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the bank to a vehicle.

Rubin said the suspect fled in a dark 4-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima. The vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on South College Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard. He was dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt, black t-shirt, and black pants. He was also wearing a gray baseball hat and white and black sneakers.

Newark – Police Officers from the Newark Police Department are currently working an active crime scene at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 622 South College Avenue.

At around 12:00 this afternoon Newark Police responded to the bank for reports of a robbery in progress.

We are awaiting an update from the Newark Police Department regarding the robbery.

The bank is located directly across the street from the University of Delaware football stadium.
