One-Year-Old Child Struck And Killed In Bear

Yesterday, May 18, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. police responded to the unit block of Raven Turn for a report of a vehicle crash involving a toddler.

Upon arrival, Officers learned that a 1-year-old child had been struck by a vehicle. The child was then transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit was tasked with investigating this incident. When the investigators arrived, they learned that a 25-year-old female was operating a Ford 500 and struck the child as she was negotiating the cul-de-sac. The driver stayed in the area until emergency services arrived.

Speed and alcohol were not a factor. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this motor vehicle crash to contact New Castle County Police.

This is an active and ongoing investigation; further information will be released as it becomes available.
