Two Out Of State Men Arrested In Wilmington

Wilmington Police recover firearm, arrest Georgia, North Carolina men during a traffic stop

On June 1 at approximately 1:46 a.m., police on proactive patrol in the 1200 block of North Walnut Street observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn and run a red light. Officers stopped the vehicle and detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police recovered 5.2 grams of marijuana.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Davvar Odom of Morrow, Georgia, was found to be wanted on an outstanding capias. He was processed on that capias and charged with traffic violations and possession of marijuana. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on his own recognizance pending further proceedings.

During the course of their investigation, police also found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine.

The passenger in the vehicle, 19-year-old Rahmir Williams of Carrboro, North Carolina, has been charged with the following offenses:

Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Two Counts)
Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
Criminal Impersonation
Possession of marijuana

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,500 secured bail.
