Newark Police Track Down Burglary Suspect Using Surveillance Video

On July 31, 2019, at 1434 hours, Newark Police responded to the unit block of Center Street for a residential burglary. The resident reported that he came home to his residence and heard noises on the second floor. The victim went upstairs to find that there was damage to his bedroom and various personal property had been stolen from the residence.

Responding officers and a Newark PD K-9 checked the area and did not locate a suspect, said  Lt Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said Newark Police Detectives began to investigate the incident and used surveillance video and witness statements to identify the suspect as Thomas Reamer, 23, of Middletown.

On August 1st, 2019, Reamer was taken into custody by the University of Delaware Police Department after he was found trespassing on the Amtrak train tracks.

Reamer was charged with one count each of Burglary 2nd Degree, Theft Under $1,500 and Criminal Mischief. He appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was ordered held in default of $11,600 secured bond. His custody was transferred to the Howard R Young Correctional Facility in Wilmington.
